On 28th-30th June 2013, ANC UK organised the biennial ANC European Conference in London, UK. The conference bought together delegates from eleven countries to discuss the ANC’s action plan for the coming two years in Europe.

The conference was officially opened on the evening of Friday 28th with a cocktail reception, dignitaries and representatives of various Armenian organisations in the UK to meet and discuss matters of importance to the Armenian community.

Stephen Pound MP, Member of Parliament for Ealing North, gave a rousing speech during which he praised Armenians for their resolve and intellect in all matters of national life, but most importantly directed at activities to promote the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Mr Pound’s speech was followed by one from Dr Charles Tannock MEP, Member of the European Parliament for London. Dr Tannock underlined and reiterated his long-time support for Armenians and connected causes at the European level and pledged his support in educating more politicians about Armenian causes.

The conference itself was then officially opened by Hagop Der Khatchadurian, member of the ARF Bureau in Montreal, Canada. He outlined the current issues facing Armenians around the world as well as the aim of the conference and thanked everyone for their presence and support.

Also attending the reception were Angie Bray MP, Member of Parliament for Ealing Central and Acton, Councillors Ara Iskanderian, Julian Bell and Bassam Mahfouz from Ealing Council, and Ara Margarian, the chargé d’affaires of Armenia to the UK.
